Our Picks by Situation
Secure Travel (RIMI)
Backed by Lloyd's underwriters. Standard and Enhanced plans, online purchase, monthly payments with first and last month plus $120. Priced mid-pack at 70, and a solid all-round plan for parents in their 60s and 70s. Doesn't quote at 80.
MSH Discover Canada
Cheapest standard quote at 70 and still lowest with pre-existing cover. Deposit is first and last month plus $90. Check the stability wording for your parent's conditions.
TruStone (Empire Life)
Lowest at 80 in our quotes, with a monthly option. Uses a 365-day stability period and adds a surcharge for diabetes and cancer history.
21st Century and Manulife Basic
Priced the same at 80 and 85, which made them the lowest at 85. Basic plans have tighter benefits; read the exclusions.
TuGo, GMS, Allianz
Same price with or without the pre-existing option. Higher up the table, but worth a look for parents with several stable conditions.
JF Visitors to Canada
Backed by Old Republic. Deposit is the last two months plus $80, with an online purchase.
Six Things That Matter More Than the Name
Who carries the risk. Many plans are sold under one brand and underwritten by another company. IRCC checks the insurer, so the underwriter should be Canadian or OSFI-authorized.
The stability clause. 90, 180 or 365 days changes everything for a parent on blood pressure or diabetes pills.
Age limits. Several cheap plans stop quoting before 80. If your parent will renew for years, check where the plan's ages end.
Monthly terms. Deposits range from 65 days' premium to the first and last month, plus a $50 to $120 setup fee.
Refunds. Refused visas and early returns are handled differently by each insurer, and almost none refund after a claim.
Claims experience. In 11 years of Super Visa claims, we've learned that the assistance line and the speed of direct billing matter as much as the price.
Buying through us costs the same as buying direct. We compare every plan, read the wording with you, and help with claims and refunds later.

Which companies offer monthly Super Visa plans?

Which Super Visa insurance covers pre-existing conditions best?
It depends on the condition and how long it's been stable. Plans like TuGo, GMS and Allianz include stable conditions in the base price. Others add it as an option.
Is buying through a broker more expensive?
No. Prices are set by the insurer and are the same through a licensed broker. The broker's help with wording, claims and refunds is included.
